(1) SPEECH ACTS IN THE SCRIPT OF CINDERELLA DRAMA BY EGHA RHIYANTY PUTRI

Speech acts is an action performed via utterances. When we speak together, of course we use different ways to express what is on our minds. There are two types of speech acts: such as direct speech act and indirect speech act. Direct speech act is a direct relationship between structure and function, and indirect speech act is a indirect relationship between structure and function.There are three forms of sentence when someone wants to tell something to someone else. The structure of sentence such as declarative, interrogative, and imperative while the function of sentence such as statement, question, and command or request. This study was mainly aimed to describe and analyzedirect speech act and indirect speech act form of the utterance among the characters in the script of Cinderelladrama by EghaRhiyanti Putri.
The researcher used qualitative research method as the research design in this study. The data were collected from the script ofdrama, classified direct speech act and indirect speech act and analysis which has contains direct speech act and indirect speech act. Whereas the writer determined direct speech act and indirect speech act used Yule’s theory. After investigated the characters utterances in this script of drama, the writer found their utterancescan be analyzed in direct speech act and indirect speech act.
The result of this analysis showed that there were 25 numbers of direct speech act and only 11 numbers of indirect speech act. Direct speech act were most frequently used by the characters in this script of drama because most of the dialogues were occurred in informal situation. While indirect speech act were rarely used by the characters in this script of drama. So, the writer concluded that the dialogues that used by the characters in the script of Cinderella drama were mostly used direct speech act and Here the writer found that dominantly speech acts especially direct speech act and indirect speech act in the script of Cinderella drama function as command, request, and question.
