(2) AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS ERRORS IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT AT THE SECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT SMA KARYA RUTENG IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017

The purpose of this study was to analysis of students errors in writing recount text at the second grade students of language program at SMA KARYA RUTENG in academic year 2016/2017. The research problem of this research is as follow: what kinds of errors made by the students at the second grade students of language program and what the caused of the students do errors in writing recount text?
In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative. In this writing the researcher took 28 students of language programas the subject of this research. Then, the instrument to obtain the data was written test. In analysed the data, the researcher used four procedures of activities such as : identification of errors, describing errors, explanation of errors, and evaluation of errors.
The result of this research showed that there were four types of errors in writing recount text done by 28 students at second grade students of language program, they were : omission errors, addition errors, misformation errors, and misordering errors. Most of omission of errors done by the students were the past form of past tense such as was and were. Moreover, addition errors commited by the students were the use of an item which should not be appeared in a well-formsentence and use of an additionanl item made the meaning of a word meaningless. Misformation errors, commited by the students mostly occured on acount of not knowing the use of simple past sentence and the misuse of preposition such as at, in and on. Misordering errors, found in students writing as well where their sentence structure was not well structured and this made the meaning of sentence hardly understood and the last, based on the result of interview that cause of errors done by the second grade students of language program classified into eight types, such as : lack of preparation, lack of focus, poor time management, lack of perseverance, low self-esteem/too much self-confidence, fear of failing, procrastination, and inability to think critically.
In conclusion, the researcher concludes that, the students made four types of errors of writing recount text and the eight classified the cause of students do errors in writing recount text.
